Northern elephant seals are remarkable travelers. After spending months on land giving birth and nursing pups, females head back into the Pacific and can swim thousands of miles before returning to the same beach they left. With the Fahlo Glide Plush, you can follow one of these animals on that journey in real time.
Each plush includes a QR code. Scan it with the free Fahlo Animal Tracker app on any Android or Apple device and you'll be connected to a real northern elephant seal to follow. You'll see its name, route history, and updates as it travels. Location transmitters send data to satellites when the seal surfaces to breathe, and tracking data may be live, delayed, or historical based on safety protocols set by Fahlo's conservation partners.
The Glide Plush is made in partnership with the UC Santa Cruz Beltran Lab and Seymour Marine Discovery Center, which studies young elephant seals on their first trips to sea as well as adult females on their long routine migrations. Their research gathers data on seal biology, ecology, and behavior to inform conservation strategies for marine megafauna worldwide. A portion of every purchase supports that work.
Elephant seals can hold their breath for up to two hours and slow their heart rate dramatically while diving. They spend about 90 percent of their time at sea completely underwater. The tracking data you follow captures the moments they come up for air, which turns out to be a fascinating window into their lives.
