The small, flat-faced, perpetually wrinkled toy breed that arrived in Europe with Dutch traders in the late 1500s and became Queen Victoria's preferred breed by the 1860s takes twelve pages in Pugs 2027 Wall Calendar. Pugs were originally bred in China as lap companions for the imperial family, and the modern dog still carries the marks of that history: the curled tail, the deep facial wrinkles, the slightly bandy front legs, and the loud, snorting breathing that fans have learned to love.
