Sperm whales dive deeper than almost any other creature on Earth, sometimes reaching 3,000 feet below the surface in search of squid. They surface to breathe, and that's when researchers capture their location. With the Fahlo Wayfare Plush, you can follow one of these animals on its actual journey through the open ocean.
Each plush includes a QR code. Scan it with the free Fahlo Animal Tracker app on any Android or Apple device and you'll be assigned a real sperm whale to follow. You'll see its name, its location history, and updates as it moves. The whale is tracked via satellite tag, and location data may be live, delayed, or historical based on safety protocols set by Fahlo's conservation partners.
The Wayfare Plush is made in partnership with the FIU Marine Mammal Ecology Lab, which studies the ecology and behavior of ocean megafauna including whales and dolphins. Their research focuses on threats like bycatch, overfishing, and habitat destruction, and works toward protecting some of the ocean's most iconic animals. A portion of every purchase goes directly to support that research.
Sperm whales live in groups called pods and are known for their complex social bonds and communication through clicks called codas. They're the largest toothed predators on the planet. Following one on its daily route puts all of that into perspective in a way that's hard to get from a textbook.
