Mountain gorillas live in one of the most densely populated regions of Africa, in forests shared with millions of people across Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are critically endangered, but unlike most species on that list, their population has actually been growing in recent decades. That is almost entirely because of conservation work that started with Dian Fossey in the 1960s and has continued without stopping.
Each Fahlo Traverse Plush includes a QR code. Scan it with the free Fahlo Animal Tracker app on any Android or Apple device and you'll be connected to a real mountain gorilla to follow through the forests of Rwanda. You'll see its name, troop information, and location updates as it moves. Gorillas are tracked via GPS, and tracking data may be live, delayed, or historical based on safety protocols set by Fahlo's conservation partners.
The Traverse Plush is made in partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the organization Fossey founded before her death in 1985. The Fund operates the largest and longest-running gorilla research program in the world, combining anti-poaching patrols, habitat protection, and community development programs that give local people a stake in the gorillas' survival. Every purchase directly supports that mission.
There are only about 1,000 mountain gorillas left in existence. All of them live within a few protected areas. Following one on the Fahlo app is a chance to connect with an animal whose survival has been a genuine conservation success story, and whose future still depends on continued support.
